Organic Dairy

Let’s face it we’ve all been hearing about going green and eating organic foods – Organic Beef as well as organic fruit? Maybe you’ve been walking down the aisles in the grocery store and thinking about picking up the organic labeled dairy. Did you possibly not end up purchasing the organic dairy because the store brand or regular dairy milk was cheaper? Here are some advantages to drinking organic milk that may help you to see that drinking organic milk is worth the extra cost.

Regular milk comes from cows that were given hormones. These hormones are already found in the cows and scientists believe this could be harmful drinking over time. They’re especially concerned that it’s causing early puberty in boys and girls. Milk from Organic Dairy Companies however comes from hormone free cows.  Forget about all that extra added stuff, you can be assured its all natural.

So you want to drink milk that’s not from cows with hormones that live in horrible conditions? Then how can you be sure what you’re buying is actually organic? Organic meat or even Bison Meat? The U.S. Department of Agriculture has made 4 requirements in order for a product to be labeled USDA Organic Dairy. Those 4 requirements are that no antibiotics be added if the cow gets sick he must stay away from the other cows for 12 months before he’s returned. Cows must have room to graze on pastures unlike regular cows that are cramped and given less than appealing living conditions. Thirdly they are to be fed foods free from pesticides and lastly no BGH which is the hormone given to cows to increase the amount of dairy they produce.

Not a big seafood eater and wondering how you can get your servings of omega three’s? Not only does drinking organic dairy provide you with a rich amount of vitamins, and nutrients, but it has higher levels of omega three’s than regular dairy milk.

Not only can you be assured you’re getting a healthy cup of milk when you drink milk from organic dairy cows but you can feel good about where that milk is coming from. The cows are eating healthy and living in spacious conditions, and you’re getting hormone free, vitamin rich dairy.
